Carats:

The normal size of the diamonds we make ranges from 0.2 to 1 carat. For diamonds greater than 1 carat, please contact us for a special quotation.

Production time will vary with the size of the diamond. A 0.6 carat diamond will normally take up to 12 weeks to produce

The smallest Augenstern Diamond is 0.2 carats. Alternatively, we offer 3 x 0.15 ct for the price of a 0.4 ct, but only for diamonds from the same carbon source and in the same colour.

Cut:

We offer brilliant, emerald and princess as standard cuts.

If ever your Augenstern Diamond can only be cut in a certain way due to inclusions and unfavourable growth, you will be informed and your approval will be sought.

Colour:

You can choose from four colours for your personalized diamond. The colours are produced during the manufacturing process as described below:

Yellow diamonds: Nitrogen produced from the ambient air and the graphite during the manufacturing process generates a yellow colour in the diamond. The yellow colouration can vary from very light to quite intensive.

Green diamonds: Green is generated in our laboratories by exposing the diamond to a controlled radiation field.

Red diamonds: Our magnificent red diamonds are generated through a specific impact on the crystal lattice of the diamond, creating a different growth environment and higher pressure.

Blue diamonds: The graphite for blue diamonds has to be kept free of nitrogen atoms. The bluish colour is derived from the Boron in the diamond.

At this time, we cannot produce clear (white) diamonds because the graphite used to make diamonds is inevitably exposed to ambient air before it is transformed into a diamond. The nitrogen contained in air turns the diamond yellow. We are pursuing our laboratory research and hope to be able to offer clear diamonds in the near future.

A diamond is defined as pure crystallized carbon. It is the hardest mineral and is considered to be the most beautiful precious stone.

An Augenstern Diamond has the same optical, chemical and physical characteristics as a mined diamond from anywhere in the world. The biggest difference between an Augenstern Diamond and a mined diamond has to do with how they are made: it takes us a few weeks to make Augenstern Diamonds in the laboratory, while it takes nature a few million years.

Certification:

Each Augenstern Diamond comes with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Augenstern AG, St. Moritz Switzerland. The certificate is the same as the one on the security label attached to the photo of your diamond.
